About the Single
Runaway was born right after listening to Wayne Shorter's Speak No Evil. It started with a cello playing a simple melody, then a rhythmic string section — mysterious, but pushing forward like a chase on a mountain road in the sixties: sharp curves, the sea in the distance, the sun going down, a Godard film. The song was hard to finish until a bridge appeared midway, with a brass band influence that recalls Sgt. Pepper's — irreverent and surprising, it cuts the feeling of pursuit, and it finally closed the idea. Leon had already recorded the bass, but something was missing, so he invited Sabo Romo, his musical partner of three decades.
